Chasselas Grand Cru
A traditional vinification for the pleasure of drinking chasselas
Chasselas is the typical white grape of French-speaking Switzerland, called “the king grape variety”. This grape is fruity, floral with linden expressions or white flowers depending on its soil, which gives it a unique character. Traditional Chasselas winemaking requires historic know-how, the Rolaz family has been cultivating and vinifying Chasselas since 1806.
The originality of the geology of AOC La Côte is linked to the history of the Rhône glacier which, when it disappeared 12,000 years ago deposited sediments of moraines, pebbles from the schistose and granite massifs of the Alps as well as calcareous pebbles of the Jura mountains. This mosaic of soils gives to the Chasselas unique characters. Today, the Domaine de Chantegrive cultivates this wonderful variety in three different production sites on AOC La Côte, on the Côteau de Vincy, Mont-sur-Rolle and Féchy. The richness and diversity of the soils provide characters that express the minerality and aromatic expressions more or less nuanced by the connoisseurs of Chasselas and white wine lovers. The Chasselas has a wonderful aging potential.
